The Biñan Metropolitan Chorus (BMC) was first the private group Batingaw Vocal Ensemble whose members were only by invitation. They used to sing only classic operatic style in Italian, German, and English. It adopted its present name after it came under the umbrella of BCPA. On top of its free choral workshop for the youth, the group also performs familiar and relatable songs such as pop songs in a classic operatic style as a technique to bring the soulful art form closer to the masses under the baton of Rodel.
BMC is the first chorus from Biñan that is a member of the International Federation for Choral Music, the official representative of choral music in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) International Music Council. It has joined and won in national and regional competitions, and performed in major and collaborative concerts. BMC gave birth to two choral groups, namely, Biñan Youth Concert Chorus and Biñan Children’s Choir, that shall soon make waves in the music scene of Biñan.
