Aiming to provide a cleaner and more orderly wet market for Biñanenses, the New Biñan Wet Market started operations on April 15, 2019. The initiative is a fitting response to the rising demand for a larger market that would serve the needs of the city’s growing population, as well as the increasing number of market goers from outside Biñan who are using the market’s products and services. City officials have inspected the market stalls and their timbangan (weighing scale) to ensure fair service to the customers. Vendors are also encouraged to be disciplined when it comes to organizing their products and segregating their wastes. Currently, the second floor is being renovated into a Paluto area, where customers can bring the fresh products they purchased on the first floor, have them cooked on the second floor, and eat the still hot, newly cooked food right there. The area is also a good place for families to enjoy a good meal and spend time with one another.
