Aside from the MRF, Biñan also has its own compost facility located in Barangay Langkiwa. Biodegradable trash is converted for use in the city’s three-hectare organic farm called “Big Basket”, a project of the Biñan City Youth and Sports Development Office, in Barangay Dela Paz.
This program also benefitted the out-of-school youth and unemployed citizens who were given farm training and received the Organic Agriculture Production NC II certification in January 2017. Mayor Dimaguila aims to train the citizens of the city to apply the skill in their own backyards.
